As previously reported Blackie is in Holy Spirit Northside Hospital following his heart attack and heart failure he is comfortable and stable as he awaits surgery hopefully this week.

Carol is in Brisbane caring for him and as you can imagine being run quite ragged!!!

Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Our New Shed

We have paid for our shed and the kit has been delivered to our site.

Darren Abraham has levelled the site for us at no cost.

Andrew Judd has covered the pad area with gravel at no cost.

The Paver Rock Quarry has donated $1900.00 of gravel products for our use.

We thank all of them for their generosity.

Our Principal Contractor Phil Nelson is working tirelessly towards the construction of our shed.

I won’t attempt to list his responsibilities, but we ask members to be ready to assist at any time that he requires help.

WE are in the process of getting power connected to our site; we do have temporary power available in the interim.

Our volunteer builders Wayne Thompson and Gary Jones are extremely busy on their own projects and may not get to our shed for a few weeks.

The many volunteer trade’s people, earthworks, plumbers, electricians, concreters, carriers, builders etc. have been extremely generous to our project;

The only persons authorised to speak to them are, Phil Nelson and the Executive.

We know how anxious and excited our members are to see the project completed but ask that you don’t speak out of turn.

Infrastructure Fees

Councillor Tony Ricciardi has presented our case to Council with assistance from Councillor Ross Sommerfeld and they have been successful in getting the $24000.00 in fees waived. Thank you councillors!

We also recognise the effort and research by Max Emery and Graham Black in preparing our case to council.

Road Works and Car Park

Councillor Tony has said that this is an ongoing discussion but he is hopeful of some success in the near future. We await Council’s decision.

Health Talks

Our health spokesperson Robert Bell has arranged for Mr Anthony Williamson, Regional Director for the Public Trustee to speak to us about Advanced Health Directives and Enduring Power of Attorney.

He will meet us after our normal shed day meeting on 10th of April at 10am. Our wives and partners are invited to join us for this segment.

Robert is also trying to get the “Donate for Life” organisation to attend a shed day to speak about organ donation.

We remind members that the health program is a vital part of our “Tax Deductible Gift” status.

Meagan Gabell wife of our member John is taking part in the “World’s Greatest Shave” on 13-16 March to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.

We urge anyone who is interested in supporting her to donate on 1800 500088 or http://www.myleukaemiafoundation.org.au/meagangabell

Easter Fair

Easter is less than 6 weeks away, the Easter Fair is our largest fund raising effort.

Garry Leblang is organising this event on Easter Monday 21st of April, he will require the support of our members.

Storage

We still require storage as some of our gear has to be moved from its current location.

If you can help out or know of some spare space please contact the committee.

Next Shed Day

Shed day at 1 Wattle Street is this coming Thursday 13th of March at 9am.

Come along join in and hear the latest new on our project.

Have a tea/coffee and biscuit for a gold coin donation.
